It all depends on the timing. In the morning, it would be the two-part survivalist impulse. First, “Hooray, I’m still able to move!” Second, if I don’t move, no one else will. The rest of the time, it’s obscene amounts of coffee, multitasking as thoroughly inadequate compensation for a terrible memory, and the perpetual suspicion that my pants no longer fit. There’s also the little belly thing, but we don’t talk about that.
