This mitten and hat set in worked in Fair Isle-style stranded colorwork. The color pattern is given in chart form only. The mittens are worked in the round from cuffs to top, with thumb stitches reserved with waste yarn then opened for working the thumb. The hat is worked in the round from brim to crown.

Either the pair of mittens or the hat can be made with one skein of each color. To make the set, you'll need a second skein of Color B.

Mittens:
Size 2 US / 2.75 mm needles in preferred style for small circumference knitting in the round

Hat:
Size 2 US / 2.75 mm circular needle, 16" / 40 cm long
Size 2 ½ US / 3 mm circular needle, 16" / 40 cm long and needles in preferred style for small circumference knitting in the round

Stitch markers, small amount smooth waste yarn, tapestry needle

Gauge:
Mittens:
30 sts and 36 rows = 4" / 10 cm in Stockinette stitch over Chart pattern after blocking

Hat:
32 sts and 40 rows = 4" / 10 cm in Twisted Rib brim using smaller needles, after blocking
28 sts and 34 rows = 4" / 10 cm in Stockinette stitch over Chart pattern using larger needles, after blocking
