This mitten and cowl set is worked in Fair Isle-style stranded colorwork.  The color patterns are given in chart form only. The mittens have gusseted thumbs and are worked from cuff to tip; the cowl is worked in the round and is fully lined with stockinette stitch in the main color.

Mittens:
For Size 7½" (19) cm: Size 2 ½ US / 3 mm and 3 US / 3.25 mm needles in preferred style for small circumference knitting in the round
For Size 8½" (21.5) cm: Size 2 ½ US / 3 mm and 4 US / 3.5 mm needles in preferred style for small circumference knitting in the round

Cowl:
Size 4 US / 3.5 mm circular needle, 16" / 40 cm long and spare circular needle in same or smaller size, same or longer length

Stitch marker, waste yarn, tapestry needle

Gauge:
28 sts and 30 rows = 4" / 10 cm in Stockinette stitch over Chart using size 3 US / 3.25 mm needles 24 sts
27 rows = 4" / 10 cm in Stockinette stitch over Chart using size 4 US / 3.5 mm needles
