The hat is worked in the round from brim to top. It begins with a solid color facing, then the remainder is worked in the stranded colorwork technique. The mittens begin with a Latvian Braid, then they are worked in the round from cuff to tip using the stranded colorwork technique. The colorwork patterns are given in chart form only.

22 sts and 24 rows = 4" / 10 cm in Stockinette stitch over Chart pattern, using larger needles

Mittens:
25 sts and 25 rows = 4" / 10 cm in Stockinette stitch over Chart pattern
