The Hat is worked in the round from the bottom up, beginning with a provisional cast-on. Once the main Hat is complete, the provisional cast-on is undone and the Earflaps are worked from the bottom edge of the Hat down. A Latvian braid is worked around the entire bottom edge of the Hat and Earflaps, then braids are added to the bottom of the Earflaps. The body of the Hat and the Earflaps are worked in the stranded colorwork technique; the crown is worked in a solid color. The color patterns are given in chart form only.
