Where are the patterns? I see pictures, but no patterns. Print E-mail

Twist Collective is free, but most of the patterns we offer are for individual sale.  Click on the rollovers to take you to the shop area to buy the patterns you want.

Why aren’t the patterns free? Print E-mail

Free pattern sites are wonderful resources for knitters and designers on the web, but Twist Collective is something different. It’s a big world, and we believe there is room in it for many different ideas. Twist Collective believes good design comes from hard work, and such effort should be valued and compensated accordingly. We came to the prices after careful consideration of the amount of time involved in our own work and the work of the designers. We hope you agree.

I want you to use my yarn for one of your projects. Do I have to buy advertising? Print E-mail

Thank you so much, we’d love to add you to our list of options.  We choose yarn based on the appropriateness to the project, not on advertising. Please email your generous offer to Kate.

I think I found an error in a pattern. Print E-mail

We make every effort to assure that our patterns are error free, but sometimes things slip through. When this happens and it affects the knitability of a pattern, we send out automated emails to buyers to allow them to download a "clean" version. Please check the errata page to see if the error you have found is listed. If not, send an email to errata@twistcollective.com . Please be sure to include detailed information as well as the version number of the pattern (located at the bottom of each pattern page near the copyright information).

I ordered a pattern and didn’t receive it. Print E-mail

  • The email with download information will be sent to the email you use for your paypal account.
  • If you paid by echeck it will be sent automatically when the payment has cleared (which can be several days).
  • If you didn’t pay by echeck and you have checked the email connected to your paypal account, it’s possible that a spambot ate the download email. Please email your receipt to sales@twistcollective.com and we will correct the situation as quickly as possible

My browser doesn’t play nice with the site. Can you fix it? Print E-mail

If you can email us the OS and browser you are using, as well as the problem you are having, we will see what we can do. Email this info techsupport@twistcollective.com . You can also try using Firefox with which our site has fewer glitches than other browsers.

Will you wholesale your patterns to me so I can sell them in my yarn shop? Print E-mail

Maybe. We’re thinking about it, and will have to work that out with our designers.  Stay tuned.

Why do you have ads? / I blocked your ads! Mwah ha ha ha! Print E-mail

Often, in the world at large, ads are just trying to sell you something you don’t need. But other times, ads are an information source, and in the world of fiber, information is potentially exciting. Not only does taking advertising help support Twist Collective and make it possible for us to make the magazine available to you, but we also like to think of our advertisers as people who have something to tell you about that you might actually be interested in. If you could see our ads, you would understand that they are in step with our mission to bring you independent and beautiful work, and these are the vendors who can provide the yarns and fibers that make those things possible (sometimes with reader discounts). Block those ads, and seriously? We think you’re missing something.

How long are these patterns going to be available? Print E-mail

Simple: indefinitely. No expiration date, as far as we know. If for some unforeseen reason the site were going to have to disappear, we will give everyone ample notice. Promise.

What do I get for my money? / What does a pattern page look like? Print E-mail

All of the Twist Collective patterns are professionally vetted by our very talented crew of technical editors, and we ensure that patterns are clear, detailed, as long as they need to be, and also as it happens, lovely to look at. One knitter wrote to tell us that she felt that reading through the pattern was like taking a master class from the designer.  If errata are found, patterns are updated, posted to our errata page, and emailed to buyers.

Can I buy three/five/everything for a bulk rate? Print E-mail

A lot of people are asking about bulk purchases.  Here’s the answer, for now. For the immediate future, we will not be offering discounted rates for multiple purchases, with our apologies.  We really appreciate the enthusiasm that has greeted our first issue, and I promise you that we are actively thinking about how we can afford to both pay designers fairly and to gratify the pattern collectors with a “buy them all” or a “buy several for less” option.  But for now, we can only remind you that knitting time is what it is, and the patterns aren’t going anywhere. They will be here when you are ready, so come back after your first project, and buy the next one (or two) then.
