Every Friday we feature one of the garments from the magazine in a post about styling. We suggest different ways to wear the garment in question using mock-ups from Polyvore. We encourage readers to tell us what they think about these outfits via our Facebook page or Twitter, and if folks want to make their own outfits, please tweet them at us with the hashtag #twiststyle. You can find all of the Style Friday posts here.
Have you looked closely at this top? Like really looked at it? The details are so lush and pretty.
You should probably see it from the back too.
I think of this top as kind of a surprise. At a distance, it looks like a t-shirt. You maybe get a hint that it is a little special if you glimpse the lightly scalloped sleeve. Then when you get closer, the details become more apparent; the delicate cabled body, and the way the lace dips to a V in the front, making a lovely heart shape on the body.
Precisely because of the surprise-wow factor, you can wear this top lots of ways. With a little bling and a black pencil skirt, you're cocktail-ready. It can be a bright pop under a blazer for work. You can also wear it just like a t-shirt!
The last few days in Toronto have been intensely sticky and hot, so my styling choices reflect that a bit. Check out Merise, for days when you don't really want to wear clothes!
I'm heading to a weekend of cottaging that includes a few of my Montreal knitting ladies. I can't wait to see my lovely buds and take a dip. If I have room in my bag, I'll bring along my almost finished Pont Neuf; I'm hoping that being near water, dears, and deer will get me over the sleeve-knitting sllump.
How will you wear Merise?
