Every Friday we feature one of the garments from the magazine in a post about styling. We suggest different ways to wear the garment in question using mock-ups from Polyvore. We encourage readers to tell us what they think about these outfits via our Facebook page or Twitter, and if folks want to make their own outfits, please tweet them at us with the hashtag #twiststyle. You can find all of the Style Friday posts here.
Happy Friday humans. Happy Friday indeed.
Yesterday I worked at a cafe in my neighbourhood with my friend Doug, and partway through our time there, they opened up the big garage style door and let all the sun and air into the cafe. I felt the spring in my bones and grinned like a fool for a while before returning to my furious typing.
I bet you noticed another sign of spring this week; we released a new issue! I always find new issue day pretty thrilling, but this one was even moreso! It's our 25th issue, which is kind of a big deal, and our cover girl is my stunning friend Sue, who is one of the people who made me the knitter I am today! She taught me (and retaught me, and retaught me) circular knitting, and cables, and she dabbled in socks long before I could take on that challenge. I talk all the time about how knitting is sometimes a solitary pursuit, but has also connected me to some truly lovely humans. AWWWWW!
As always, my prescription is a big steamy mug of something (coffee, mulled wine, cider, tea, hot water with lemon; you do you!) and a slow flip through the new issue. You'll find a whole bunch of springy new gems, and some revisited classics looking fresh.
Let's take a look at one of our new patterns, shall we? I would like to introduce you to Cassabana. She stood out to me right away. It could be because she is hot pink, or because she has some great lines, and a slightly unusual shape. I hope you agree she is cute as heck.
Cassabana is a real easy pullover to toss on over jeans or whatever, and also a great layering piece for when you want to wear a summery top, but your office is air conditioned, or there might be a cool breeze at the baseball game. I also think you should try wearing her over something sparkly. The ladders will show just a little peek of glitter like you're secretly a mermaid and that will make your whole day just a little bit magical.
I wanted to see if Cassabana would be at home at an art opening (left), for a stroll along a pier (right), or uh, in the 90s. The answer was yes. Velvet chokers are back you guys, and I couldn't be happier about it. I'm cool again... I'm cool for the first time! I'll never be cool but my clothes sometimes are.
How will you wear Cassabana?
