Twist Style Fridays: Bereza
Every Friday we feature one of the garments from the magazine in a post about styling. We suggest different ways to wear the garment in question using mock-ups from Polyvore. We encourage readers to tell us what they think about these outfits via our Facebook page or Twitter, and if folks want to make their own outfits, please tweet them at us with the hashtag #twiststyle. You can find all of the Style Friday posts here.
Happy Friday folks! I don't know what's going where you live, but southern Ontario has been downright balmy lately. It often feels like you can blink and miss autumn in this country, and I'm happy to have it sticking around a little longer. I even felt that way when I was navigating my home with a headlamp when the power went out for most of a day last week!
'Tis the season for layering, friends. Whether you're guarding against the early morning chill, the one after sunset, an overly AC'd office, or a cool breeze, having a sweater or scarf (or both!) handy is just the ticket.
I'd like you to meet Bereza.
My favourite features: curved, split hem; central spine cable; boatneck; simple shape; maximum coziness. When I clicked on the yarn for more information, I was surprised to see that this is a single-ply bulky weight, because it doesn't look, well, bulky. It does look snuggly though, and lofty.
With a simple allover lace pattern and stockinette panels where all the shaping happens, you could whip this up real quick if you want to. You can even get yarn and pattern in a handy kit, right here.
As for styling, I recommend Bereza as a layering piece over things with clean lines and simple shapes. Have a collar peek out over the boat neck, or one of those cute strappy things that's everywhere right now.

Twist Style Friday: Belem

Hey there! It's been a little while! We have been cooking up some new stuff in the Twist kitchen, and I'm excited to be back to talk about clothes with all of you delightful humans.
Can we talk about this sweater? Hello there, pretty.
A worsted weight cardigan is a quick knit that will serve you well on chilly days. You can wear her over summer dresses, keep her in your chilly office, or toss her over something trendy when the wind blows. You'll be snuggly warm, but not overheated, since the neck is scooped and there is a little lace at the shoulder.
You can get the pattern *and* the lovely yarn as a kit, here!
This time of year gets me really jazzed about fabrics and textures. Layering means you can wear MORE CLOTHES at the same time, and I think you should This set is all about velvet and mesh and metallics and yes, the top in the middle is a bodysuit because bodysuits are amazing.
How will you wear Belem?
This Fall marks Twist Collective’s 9th birthday and the start of a new chapter for the publication. We took the Spring/Summer season off to look at the magazine and really think about how we want to grow it so that we can offer more great designs and articles for a better value while still paying our contributors fairly. We thought about all the ideas we’ve had for the last nine years that we’ve had to push aside in order to prioritize the day to day running of the magazine and came to two conclusions: things need to change and we can’t do it alone. Which leads to our exciting news: We have teamed up with WEBS-America’s Yarn Store to combine forces and take Twist Collective and its patterns, articles and blog to the next level. With the ink still fresh on the paperwork, things won’t seem too different now, but we have big plans ahead and hope you’ll all join us.
We couldn’t be more excited about what lies ahead and we hope that our readers, contributors and supporters will join us as we make Twist Collective even better. Thank you for reading, sharing and supporting the magazine.
Throwback Thursday: Ruthie
Maybe it's because it seems a little like everyone I know is having babies right now, but this pattern really jumped out at me when I took a scroll through some vintage Twist patterns.
That little monkey isn't a baby in these pics, but like, really definitely for sure now is not even close to babyhood. This was six whole years ago!!
The colorwork is cute and simple; this little sweater would be an awesome way to use up some scraps you have from other projects!
If you have some small humans in your life, think about whipping up a Ruthie!
Throwback Thursday: Amiens
She's not just a generously sized shawl, as she might appear from behind. Amiens is an elegant cape. We know that not all heroes wear capes, but like, maybe sometimes you want to?
Be cozy, be gorgeous, be prepared.
