This top begins with the back lace medallion, which is worked in the round from the center out, then placed on waste yarn. The body is worked back and forth in one piece to the armholes, with the opening at the center back and a cutout in the back for the medallion; then front and backs are worked separately to the shoulders. The back seams are sewn, and then stitches are picked up around the back cutout and the medallion is grafted to these stitches using Kitchener stitch. The lace pattern is presented in both chart form and row-by-row instructions.
