This shawl is worked sideways and is composed of a series of curving columns. The first column is worked by itself for several rows, then stitches for the second column are cast on and both columns are worked together for several rows. The second column is worked by itself for several rows, then the two columns are worked together again, then the first column is worked by itself, and finally the two columns are worked together again. This process is repeated for each additional column, alternating working each column separately with working 2 columns together. Then stitches for the most recent column are placed on a holder, and the process is reversed, moving the stitches of each column to a holder until only the original column remains. Each set of held stitches is returned to the needles, and a leaf is worked on the end. You may replace the leaf with an i-cord or another edging of your choice.
